In a small bowl, mix together coriander, paprika, cardamom, cayenne pepper and nutmeg.
In a large skillet over medium heat, add oil. When oil is hot, add chicken. Cook until browned. Remove and place on plate.
Cook the onions, adding more oil if needed, until browned on edges.
Add the mixture of spices and cook for two minutes, stirring constantly.
Add ginger, tomato paste and cream to skillet, stir thoroughly. Add the chicken. Increase the heat to medium until a simmer, then lower the heat and continue cooking, stirring occasionally until sauce is thickened.
Add seasoning. Salt and pepper, with cilantro. Serve with rice.
