Encompasses my fishing trips, my actual ABU fishing equipment, my location, my boat "Ambassadeur", my family but also the research I have on other like-minded ABU devotees to show their collections, their fishing as well as their contributions to ABU via employment and management roles.
I use the Twitter feed to the far right to point to significant new updates (but not all) on website -->>
Many friendships have developed over the almost 10 years since I first started sharing my ABU educational research findings here. Support has been just wonderful and as I do not sell ABU to profiteer, I feel doors have opened to me, with many kind souls also very willing to share their knowledge.
These started in the 40's and eventually the word was spread via a dozen or more different language catalogs, brochures and phamplets. Advertising progressed to radio and television and now websites, Utube and social media like Twitter. My first experience was the fabulous Tight Lines catalog issued yearly and available at my local tackle shop in Rockhampton, Queensland. Little did I realize, that their equivalents in foreign languages, were being eagerly sought by millions around the world from the 1940's. Famous not only for its reels, but ABU lead the market with catalogued rods, baits and many accessories. Click on the current 2016 Swedish digital ABU Garcia catalog
From its humble beginnings as a watch-making factory, through its taximeter, Halda typewriters and technical equipment, eventually the world famous Record casting reels were produced from 1940's, and in 1953 the Ambassadeur 5000 first appeared. It and its variants took the fishing world by storm and arguably gave ABU a 3 + decade lead over most manufacturers. Not until the 90's with the release of the much sought after Morrum series baitcasters, the Suveran Spinning reels and the more recent Revo series did ABU regain its fishing-equipment crown. The wonderful ABU museum at Svangsta must surely be on every ABU fan's visit/bucket list if travelling in southern Sweden.
Contributors supply images and quotes on a regular basis. Here we see one of ABU's finest devotees, Per Erlandsen's Collection from Norway.
He has kindly shared his "Record Fisken" Dream Trips here.
